A pretty new bird – Southern Blue Waxbill

I found a pretty new bird in my trees – a Southern Blue Waxbill, also called a Southern Cordon-Bleu of all things! Someone must have been very hungry when they named it . They are a common species that is also held in aviaries.

I was too scared that I might chase it away if I unlocked my security gate first, so I just took a few photos through my door opening. Not good pictures but I’m happy that I at least managed to photograph it . Hopefully I’ll get a chance to take better photos of it soon! The last picture is of the nice sunset we had this afternoon.
